Tanning Facilities

I am the recipient of a dual chamber PM just 5 weeks tomorrow.  I understand that I can never utilize a tanning booth again, but my question is, can I utilize a tanning bed just for my legs only?  If my body is outside of the tanning bed from waist up, is tanning just the legs okay?

I have never heard that tanning booths are off-limits. Maybe someone else can chime in, I was told to only avoid five things:

1. Don't go through traditional airport scanners

2. Stay 50ft away from active radio towers

3. Stay 20ft away from active arc welding setups.

4. Stay away from MRI machines

5. Don't climb MT Everest.

My "Medtronic" owner's manual and the cardiologist's release orders tell me to avoid these three main things:  ham radios, arc. welding, and tanning booths.  I don't understand why about the tanning booths either.

Tanning Beds

Dear Fawn11, I received my Pacer in November of 2015. I have used tanning beds, and never had a problem! I have a Biotronik Eluna 8 DR-ProMRI. I have even walked through an airport scanner and not had a Problem! I would consult with your Doctor and check your owner's manual!  Blessings, Pastor Mike

Enter the word 'Tanning', in search ( upper right corner), and have a read.

I think I would phone the makers of your pacemaker to see what evidence they have.

Lots of folk think PMs and tanning/sun beds are OK.

Given the risk of skin ageing, maligant change etc. most of us are going out of our way to avoid UV using factor 50. The  spray stuff from a bottle seems less damaging.

Seems weird to me but a quick web search:

Devices with little or no risk:

Seems it's unanimous.  I wouldn't do it anyway but not because of my PM.
