I failed my DOT physical today due to having an ICD. Doctor says I need to find another job that doesn’t require any driving.
Didn’t think it would come to this, so depressed. What to do.

Life sometimes deals a joker
by AgentX86 - 2019-11-01 23:40:15
Sorry but life sometimes sucks. I'm likely to lose my driver's license entirely, shortly, which is going to make working at all, difficult. I'm trying to negotiate a deal with my boss to allow me to work from home a few days a week but there's no guarantee. It's difficult to get the brain in the right frame but depression doesn't solve the problem. It's natural to react as you (and I) are but you (we) really have to get over it and just add it to the list of life's problems.
Don has a good idea for another job. Perhaps you can get one with the same company. A decent employer would give preference to a current employee (good ones are hard to come by these days) with such a problem.
I'm sorry

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I initially found it hard to adjust to the idea of a PM / ICD. I can imagine how hard it would be to also have it mean a job change,
I wish I had something more helpful to add, but I wanted to tell you I was sorry.
You know you're wired when...
Friends call you the bionic woman.

What to do

Find another job is your only course of actom. That's the way it gpes with the US DOT. CDL's are not a allowed for folks w/ a PM/ICD, high BP or uncontrolled diabetes. You might try a job as a forklift operator. That requires an operator's license, but as far as I know that is a company issued item. It requirees all the skills you already have. the rest you can be taught/learn. The world did not end for you.
