Coeliac disease

Coeliac disease is not an allergy. It's an auto-immune disease, which means that the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues. For people with coeliac disease this attack is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Some people with coeliac disease also react to oats.(www.coeliac.org.uk). I was first diagnosed in 1956 and put on a gluten free diet and have been on one ever since apart from a spell of 12 years from mid teenage years. I was tested for a suspected heart murmur in late teens & given an iron supplement. Coeliacs can often be anaemic but this disappears once gluten is excluded from the diet. Until a heart block 10 days ago which lead to the St Jude Victory DDDR PM being fitted I had always been fit.Hence my wondering if there was anyone else out there who was a coeliac.
