Six weeks

Hello

It now has been six weeks since PM and although I have some days that are good, still have a few things, such as left shoulder painful, anxiety, just not feeling good, although I know when I do not have energy, to rest. I tried to go back to work, but that did not work out. Too soon. I know that everyone heals and adjusts at different levels. Having the PM probably saved my life, and I will have to be patient with the adjusting. This website has been soooo helpful for me.

Sharon, I have copied in a reply I made recently to another PM. Club member.
I hope it applies to your situation.
Copy:
I can sympathise with your concerns.
The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event.
In my own experience, the combination of medication and trauma was quite a shock. The good news is.........it gets better!
Weeks or months? It seems to be a matter of chance.
(that means I don't really know what controls the process of feeling better).
Your best buddy should be your G.P. for the next few weeks. If you have any pain or symptoms which worry you, give your doctor a call. They may not be perfect, but they can usually help.
I wish you well for the next few weeks.

Hi Sharon - I am also Sharon and so glad to meet you. If you are interested I just posted on Queen_Beez last postings about this very subject. Rather than add it on here you might want to check it out in those comments. You did not state your age but it seems to me that the younger the recipient the more problems they experience. I am 67 - got my PM last year one week after my 66th BD. My general health is good and I am an active person. When did you get your pacemaker? How are you doing now? Since you must be new - welcome! This website has been such a blessing to me this past year. The members on here are absolutely wonderful - caring, nurturing, funny and supportive. I found this website the day I came home with my PM and have learned far more here than I could ever hope to gain from any of the healthcare pros! Stay tuned and you will benefit tremendously. God bless and keep you.
Sharon

Thanks for the Comments

I had my PM 5-24-07 and am 68 years young!!!! Yes, I have learned so much from this website. I was an active person but my energy level is a little low right now and with me not working, I have too much time on my hands. I am looking into volunteer work. Again, thanks for the wonderful comments and help.

I definatly know what you mean. The general not feeling good, no energy and anxiety. It's really hard. I found that in time, I gained the confidence to start doing the things I was doing before and I started feeling better. When I was down I tried to be useful, I prayed alot for people, I called people I thought could use a converstion and did what work I could from home. The anxiety was especially tough but that is also getting better. This site and the people on it are critical to my recovery.
Take care,
Rusty
