He had a pacemaker put in in November. Every once in awhile he gets a sharp pain where the pacemaker is and then will get dizzy and light headed. Does anyone else have this problem or know what would be causing it? I'm not sure if he gets a pain and then has a panic attack or what. His pacemaker has been checked and it working fine.
Thank you

I will have to see his card and then I can tell you what pacemaker he has. He was born with a heart block. It had given him no problems until this last year. He is on no meds. Sometimes it happens when he is just sitting and talking. He has always been healthy. But it seems lately he is always saying he doesn't feel good. He is not running a fever, he looks very pale when it happens and his b/p and pulse are always okay when he gets to the dr.

Im out of ideas :)
Anyway, if you dont mind me asking, what type of pacemaker does he have and why did he need it? That could give us a hint of what might be causing this, and if you search the archives, you'll see different possibilities to your son's symptoms.
Questions you might want to consider (and tell your doctor about) are:
1. During these dizzy episodes, what is your son doing?
2. Does it come and go quickly?
3. Is there anything that makes him feel better during these episodes (like laying down, drinking water etc...) 4. Is he on any meds? If so, what are they?
5. Between these sharp pains, is he pretty healthy?
6. Does the site hurt when you press on it?
7. Is he running a fever?
8. What are his vitals? (blood pressure, heart rate)
From my own experience (also implanted in November), the dizziness was a combination of the meds that I was on as well as the settings on my PM. And the pain was from an infection that was developing (but that's b/c a small portion of the incision was exposed). So its possible that he just needs to get his PM adjusted. But, I'm no doctor, so I could be wrong.
Anyway, you might want to seek a second opinion. Sometimes, doctors that are new to the case can look at things with fresh eyes and might be able see what your current doctor might have missed.
Sorry if I didn't really help. I just thought I share a few questions with you. Hopefully someone who went through this will give you some good advice. You've come to the right place :)
Please let us know how he's doing. You'll be in my prayers.
take care,
