Hi everyone,
I have had a tough few months in dealing with my pacemaker. I had to get a new pacemaker and wire ectractions since I had a damaged lead.
I had the surgery on June 4th and the surgery was a success. The problem that I have now is that I seem to be getting pain under my left armpit which feels like burning. I also seem to get short sharp stabbing pains around the upper left center of my chest. I saw my doctor and he thinks it may be due to the pacemaker compressing the nerves in the area.
I am confused by this bc, I had the new pacemaker (which is smaller then my first) put in the same location as my first....so why wouldn't I have had this pain after my first pacemaker?
I am taking a pescription painkiller, but the pain just seems to be getting worse.
Has anyone else had nerve related pain due to their PM? If so, what gave you relief from it?

Hi,
thank you so much for info! I will contact my doctor in the morning. I did have scar tissue removed bc of trying to insertcthis new PM. I think that might be what is causing this pain.
Again, thank you!!!
Christine
You know you're wired when...
You invested in the Energizer battery company.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.

I had some pain in my armpit, but it was due to the placing of the wires in the artery. The nerve issue could be if they had to remove any scar tissue or make room for a different shape. I would consult with you physician and tell them you are not comfortable and need to know a more definite answer. You should not be in this pain now. Ask till you are comfortable with the answer, that's why you pay them the big bucks. Make them help you get comfortable.
