Hi
had a pacemaker fitted in August. Scans show no heart disease, I had been taking blackouts. I have been experiencing palpitations occasionally when I go upstairs or lift anything as well as some breathlessness. Has anyone else had similar experience? Pacemaker is a Medtronic.

"I had been taking blackouts" - does this mean that you are no longer experiencing blackouts?
Inclines and heavy lifting can sometimes but not always cause issues for me several years out from implant - setting adjustments helped tremendously in my case - consider asking for an evaluation.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.

The two main reasons for syncope are sinus pauses and (transient) low blood pressure. I'm not sure from your writing if you're still having a syncope probem. Your PM will fix the first but will do nothing for your blood pressure.
Palpatatoins can be just about any arrhythmia but usually PVCs, in this situation. They're harmless but can make you feel awful. Your exhaustion climbing stairs may be the PVCs (if you can correlate them) or it could be a pacemaker settings issue. Stairs still bother me if they're long enough or I'm carrying something heavy. My pacemaker doesn't understand that I need more oxygen even though my pace hasn't changed.
