Well the time has come....CCM Therapy Optimizer Smart Research Study

Hi All,

Well, I've been selected as part of a research study group for the CCM Therapy Device called Optimizer Smart by Impulse Dynamics.

The study will last 3 years, all costs will be paid for by Impulse Dynamics, insurance and the hospital. There are only 600+ study participants in my region.

I am excited and scared at the same time. Having had a tough recovery from my ICD implant - both mentally and physically, I now embark on another implant. I am hopeful though that this new implant will get me to a better state of living from where I am now.

Explainer for the CCM Therapy device can be found here -

Thank you all for listening to my journey always.

Implanted !

Hi All,

I was in at 8am and out by 2pm ! Feeling good, pain is manageable, would sutured nicely. I had a large team of doctors, the device manufacturer programmers in the operating room with me, program study research people, nurses and the operating attendant and chief surgeon all in the operating room with me. I was not sedated, was on lidocaine. I needed to be responsive to the device programmer's voltage changes at the end of surgery. The voltage changes felt like a strong hearbeat at its highest point that I could tolerate and not noticeable at the point where I am now. I have two new leads in the right side of my heart. The device comes with a charger (induction), a manual, and a card that indicates that I have this device implanted. The device can operate without charge for 3 weeks but Impulse Dynamics (the device manufacturer) recommends I charge 1 hour a week once a week. The device delivers a charge to my heart at the contractile level 15,000 times a day and is supposed to reverse remodel my fatal phenotype genetic condition. I am supposed to improve at least 1 level on the NYHA Class. I am the first in Los Angeles, California to be part of this study. I am extremely thankful for this. My care team will be checking up on my with visits to my home which is a benefit for me.

I'll update everyone on my health journey with this new device, thank you again everyone, you all have been such an awesome support system for me and others.

Very happy for you

Alexander, by chance I saw your message while doing some admin tasks.  Not sure that others will see this message unless you do a new message (copy and paste job?) because your original post was dated a few months ago.  Anyway, great news and hopefully a step nearer to improving your QOL.  Please take good care, Gemita
