Success story (I hope!)

We just had our Thanksgiving holiday here, and because I feel I have lots to be thankful for, I was moved to post this. Maybe those going through a rough spot will be encouraged.

It just so happened that my monitor sent in its 3 mo report this month as well. It showed no episodes, 0% afib (again). There have been times when I questioned whether my docs knew what they were doing--I only started having pauses AFTER ablation (hmmm), and the side effects of my meds were hard to take. Having to have a pacemaker to basically counter the effects of treatments didn't sit too well at first.

Now, the fact that I am able to enjoy holidays with family without being tired or sick is amazing to me. I have begun to realize that I actually feel pretty good. Even the fatigue from the beta blocker is at a manageable level (as long as I get plenty of sleep, I'm ready to take on the day). I have been planning for Christmas, shopping & decorating, and it is because I want to do it, not just pushing through because I feel I have to. It's a long way from a Christmas a few years ago with me sat in a chair, fading in & out of consciousness!

I have a feeling of peace, and my health is no longer constantly on my mind. That means I probably won't be checking in here quite so much, so I want to wish everyone wonderful holidays, good health, and the best in the new year.

Also, thank you for dealing with my questions and complaints. You'll be hearing from me when the meds stop working or something else pops up. See, I'm not THAT confident!

Success with Atrial Fibrillation (AF)

by Gemita - 2022-11-27 13:58:03

TLee that is quite incredible news 0% AF and to remember how this all started?  You have come far and have had remarkable success with this arrhythmia.  Your optimism will encourage other members not so fortunate to never give up hope.  For this reason, as New to Pace also suggests, I hope you will continue to pop in from time to time because we need all the help and support we can get managing an arrhythmia like AF.

You were an easy member to help because you always wanted to know the truth about AF, to face it and then to work out the best way of managing such a difficult arrhythmia.  You have done this exceedingly well with a combination of treatments, including anti arrhythmic and rate control medication, ablation and of course your new friend, the pacemaker.  I think you have also addressed your sleep apnea and COPD.  You are now so stable that you want to move on and I can understand this which is the best result possible for you.

I wish you well dear TLee and although I don't want to see you go, I know if you stay away for long periods this will mean that you continue to be well xx

I've been reading your posts a long time. It's wonderful to know that your journey is improving so much! You deserve a break. Enjoy the peace!

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
