I am womdering if your TSH level was elevated (5.0) and 6 months later your electrical system of your heart does not work and you need a pacemaker immediately, are they related? Never had heart issues prior. Just seemed to happen so quickly, all of a sudden dizzy and short of breath. Then pacemaker inserted and all well. Redid TSH and levels down to normal range. Thank you.

My testing was part of routine bloodwork, annual physical.
I guess I am in the why did this happen stage and want to connect something.

Thanks for your response, Nancy. I found your bio but the only thing I really noted is that we're one year apart in birth years! And I got my "out of the blue" PM almost 5 years ago. Also spent a lot of time and brain power trying to ponder the why, and didn't find myself much the wiser. Not saying it's not worth exploring, but the only "dot" data point I can offer here is that my blood test results were very wacky in several areas around the time of implant, and I think this was generally attributable to low blood 02 for an extended period of time.
Best wishes to you.

Interesting. My THS levels were quite high for some time before my PM implant and recovered a year after. I'd been seeing an endocrinologist for a little while. She and my EP blamed it on damage due to Ameoderone. When it went back to normal, they assumed that my thyroid recovered from any damage.

That is interesting. I know my TSH was fine the year before, high in May, pacemaker in October and TSH normal in November. My GP was waiting and watching the TSH, checking again at 6 months, which was November. I just find it interesting since it was fine for years and within normal range again after pacemaker and heart beating correctly. The cardiologist said my AV node was completely blocked, hence needed pacemaker immediately. I may never know if there is any connection between the two. Also, I was not and am not on any medications.

Hi PSUNancy - great to hear that you are feeling well after your PM implant. No medical background on my end, but feel compelled to ask if the TSH test was requested by you or determined to be appropriate based on complaints of tiredness? Or was it simply part of a regular screening?
