Hi Everyone,
I'm a 25 year old male that got a pacemaker implanted when I was 2 years of age. I am on the search for any treatments to resolve the need for a pacemaker. If anyone knows of anything please feel free to send it my way.
What I have discovered so far is magnesium apparently is great for healing/ repairing damaged tissue around the heart but I am only early in my search and do not know of any proven studies.
Many Thanks :)

heart block?
by Tracey_E - 2023-01-30 08:50:29
Were you born with heart block? Most paced that young are. I was too. Our hearts were born without an electrical connection between the SA and AV nodes. While magnesium is excellent for the heart, I take it every night, it's not going to magically grow a connection that was never there.
We aren't like people who develop issues later in life where something deteriorates, we are born this way. Sorry that's probably not what you want to hear. I'm 56 now, healthy and active. The pacer doesn't keep me from doing anything I want to do. No one looks at me and sees a heart patient, and half the time I forget it's there.
Complete Heart Block?

I have been a pacemaker dependent for 34 years now... with a complete block. I know in my case pacemakers have become my best friend. There aren't other alternatives for me...
In your case knowing why you have a pacemaker may provide more information as to what your options are. If not having a pacemaker is even an option.

What does your doctor / EP think and what's the thinking behind your own enquiries?
Sorry to pry. Let us know if you feel comfortable with that.

Magnesium
by AgentX86 - 2023-02-01 00:18:29
This is the first time I've heard of magnesium repairing anything (paint me exceedingly skeptical) but it is essential for nerve operation. It, along with sodium and potassium, are needed for proper nerve transmission so, of course, they're important for normal heart operation.
I've been taking a magnesium suppliment since I got my pacemaker five years ago. I was having terrible problems with PVCs, which were greatly reduced after I started with the magnesium. I might have thought it was coincedental but my leg cramps went away "instantly" too.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry ive been out of action for some time.
I find Pacemakers to be a good sort term solution to the underlying issue and I am dedicated to find an alternative.
The reason why I got a pacemaker when I was 2 year of age is due to a virus I had as a kid. I am going to be seeing my cardiologost on the 1st of April to discuss a few things with him and will get details on what the exact cause was.
I know of a place that does IV infusions to replenish the body of what its is lacking (if you know what you are lacking) or even if you just want an extra boost in your day to day life. In the near future I am going to experiment with this to see if I can get results. First I am going to find out what the cause of me needing the pacemaker in the first place.
I do not have complete heart block but i am very close to it. I was perfectly find from ages 0-2.
Thanks for all your responses I read everyone of them and have taken them all on board. I will keep everyone updated If I discover anything :)
I also discovered recently that my leads are loose. So that is going to be an issue for me in the near future. but nothing that cant be fixed :)
You know you're wired when...
You run like the bionic woman.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
Why did you need a pacemaker at age 2?

Hello Brian. Good question. I suppose it depends how we feel about our pacemakers, if we see them as a disability as we grow and develop or whether in older age, we see them as a fix for our sometimes failing hearts?
I am 74, so I see my pacemaker as necessary to keep me moving and safe. Perhaps at your age, you see things differently which is why you are looking for a fix for your original diagnosis leading to your pacemaker? But what was your original diagnosis? You haven’t given us any information about your situation, why you required a pacemaker, so that we can all try to answer your question.
As to magnesium, I am only too well aware of the importance of certain vitamins and minerals, but these have to be given in a natural, balanced way, to really benefit us. If we take too much of one supplement, we may throw others out of balance, so we can sometimes have too much of a good thing.
So back to you, why did you need a pacemaker at age 2 and has your condition changed?
