aware of pacing most of the time

Just wanted to know if anyone else is very aware of their pacemaker. Mine feels like it is going to jump out of my chest sometimes and I feel it most of the time. I have had an AV node ablation and the tech said I was in A-Fib all the time now.Had it implanted in August-2006. My voltage is set at 3.50. My doctor says that I am just super sensitive.

I'll show how smart I am or how dumb I am with this comment. I say the voltage output is too high. I could feel mine when I first got it and the output was 3.5 V. to each lead. After I complained for about a year it was turned down to 2.0 for one lead and 2.5 for the other and I never feel the thing now.

The doctor says you are super sensitive, well I say the good doc is super dumb. He doesn't know what is wrong and apparently his ego will not let him ask anyone for help.

Hi there! I got my pacemaker on June 25 and for the first 4 days I felt like my heart was slamming into my rib cage. I went back to the doctor and was also told I am very sensitive to the voltage. Luckily I have a great cardiologist who worked with me to find the right voltage and pacing mode. Things were much better when he turned down the voltage to 2V, but he also changed my mode to DDD. A few days later I was still feeling lots of discomfort so I saw the doctor again. He said I was having PAC's (premature atrial contractions) and that was most likely what I was feeling. He switched my mode to DDI and I have been feeling great since. My suggestion is to call you doctor and ask him what he can do with the voltage and settings on your pm. Don't just sit back because a doctor blew you off. I am a nurse who deals with doctors all day long and I know that sometimes you have to get in their faces before they will listen to you! Good luck.
