I am a new member. I had my pacemaker fitted four weeks ago.
I am experiencing chronic fatigue. I sleep nine hours at night and at least
l hour in the day. I feel so tired all the time. Not what I was expecting.
Can anyone advise. Thanks. Y

Depression?

I was sleeping a lot after getting my pacemaker. Took a daily one hour nap too. I still take a nap a couple days a week.
I think I was sleeping so much in the beginning of the healing process because my mind was overwhelmed. My brain kept saying, "DANGER!"
It took a good while for my brain to understand that I was safe. At the time, I felt safer under the covers.
Could you be having some depression?🤔
Meds?

Are you on any new meds? I lot of heart meds cause fatigue the first couple of months. Sometimes if we needed it for a long time, it just takes the body a while to catch up and bounce back. Even though I overall felt great, I still napped a lot that first month.

Many thanks for replies from Ian Tracey and Lavender. I have not had my pacemaker follow up yet so will be able to maybe sort things out. I do not suffer any sort of depression as I am a glass full person. I will certainly think about the blood thinners I am taking and see if they could be the cause of my fatigue. Your help has been greatly appreciated. Y
You know you're wired when...
You have a new body part.

It may be an easy fix .....

At 4 weeks you probably haven't had your " how are you doing ? " review at the Pacemaker clinic when PM-adjustments are often made.
Just one of many possibilities is that your minimum heart-rate setting is too low for YOU . This could mean that none of
your bodily organs are getting enough oxygen and TIREDNESS would result.
Certainly permanent tiredness is not normal after a PM implant......the exact opposite should occur !
You need to discuss it with your doctor. It is always possible that your tiredness is nothing to do with your pacemaker.
Best of luck
