I had my Bostom Scientific Accolade implanted on November 8, 2023 and was able to come home the following day. I was diagnosed with Winchebach 2, as well as right and left branch bundle block three years ago and during my visit with the cardiologist last month, my problem had reached the point where a pacemaker would be needed. I had no stamina and had to take three to four naps a day just to perform my basic routines. I am amazed at how well my heart beats now. I used to count the beats between the skipped beat as I fell asleep. Now, my pulse is steady. The incision pain waxes and wanes and I am looking forward to getting back on my fitness routine over time. I was so pleased to find this site before my pacemaker. It makes me feel much better to know that you all understand how I feel and the prognosis for the future. Thank you for being there.

Hi Rick,
We share the same device, as it were. The Boston Scientific seems to be pretty good. Ceratinly having a pacemaker offers some reassurance that life goes on! I tell my grand children I am battery powered.
I am now 14 years with a pacemaker. Tomorrow I will swim a mile and later in the day play a couple of hours of competitive table-tennis. Your future should be a lot better. There is some fine tuning to be done on the first review. My advice is to be critical of what you want. Get the electrophysiology guys to give you the result you are happy with so that you can enjoy a quality of life you may not have been able to have prior to your PM.
It takes a good couple of months for the implant site to settle down. There is no known value in restricting arm movements as long as you are not pulling the wound.
There are almost 1.5 million people with pacemakers. Welcome to the club, and welcome to this Club. You will find the upper right search facility will cover most subjects and answer any questions, though there are always friends here to help.
Hi Rick!!

Rick!! You have a wonderful bio-orchids, dogs, baking!! Wowsers🤩
I am a fellow Boston Sci'er. Almost three years in. It took me seven months to feel like me after surgery. Not sure if it was more physically or mentally. I was sore, depressed and traumatized from the scare of six months of fainting before my sneaky ventricular standstill was discovered.
Your attitude is A-ok! You're gonna be fine 💞

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.
Welcome Rick!

Hi Rick and Welcome from me!
I'm so pleased that you feel better with your pacemaker and feel able to look forwards to a brighter future with more energy.
The pain will go away. Ice packs (wrapped in something soft and lint free) really help. The swelling looks terrible to start with, but it goes down and everything flattens out a lot.
A lot of people on here are new members with new pacemakers and there are lots of other regular posters who have had more than one / two / three ....and so on! ... pacemakers fitted.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have.
Best Wishes
