Medtronic Carelink

Is anyone else having problems with Medtronic Carelink net work. On their website it says i should transmit on two different dates when i transmitted on July 23 which was confirmed on screen. They claim last transmission was 4/22.
Have they been affected by the cybersecurity mess?

Location of Server

It may have to do with the geographical location of the server. (Many servers / server farms, are located in areas that may be several hours before / after you local time zone)  My upload was scheduled for the July, 15th, but it appears to have happened on the 14th.  Don't think it has any particular tech issue.

Medtronic offer a complex number of products including pacemakers and support systems.

There's no doubt that they push remote monitoring as a means of freeing up clinical time compared to physical face to face interactions.

How it works for individuals depends on the device being monitored.

Bluetooth enabled devices can operate without patient intervention but older non-Bluetooth devices need the patient to operate it

Mine is the later.

I'm guessing but this might explain why some of us talk about their scheduled and nightly transmissions.

For older devices, I get a letter asking me to transmit data. The monitor always displays the correct date when the transmission took place.

The monitor occasionally lights up but doesn't appear to do anything.

To be honest, the hospital told me absolutely nothing about remote monitoring and the device came through the post. Nor has there been any requests for feedback.

How does this work for Bluetooth patients?

For fully phone based systems, as long as the phone is with you in range, transmissions can take place any time.

Medtronic refer to patients as being comfortable or not with the different technologies and what you get depends on that.

Going back to the original question, there is such a discrepancy - July and April - that it is worth following up as it could affect treatment.

Usually, times and dates on networks and systems are very accurate.

Whether or not Medtronic were affected by the CrowdStrike outage, we will probably never know as it could be commercially disastrous with whole healthcare systems moving over to remote operation.

I suspect there's more to come in this respect.

Got notice from them this am. Never went through. Told to try again. This am it worked. I'm sure it was cybersecurity mess that finally cleared up
