Hello!
My mother is due for a pacemaker at the end of the month. We have a telephone consultation on Thursday.
Does anyone know if it will be a problem putting the pacemaker in on the left side if my mother has already had half a shoulder replacement done three years ago on the left shoulder?
many thanks

I shattered my collarbone and upper shoulder on the left side 5 years before my dual chamber pacemaker was inserted just below my left collarbone in 2021. It has not been a problem but nice that all of my scares are on the same side. Routing the leads to the heart on the left side is much better and not effected by my shoulder injury. I'm sure your doctors would agree.

The doc will let you know

The medical team will let you know if this is a problem. The pacemaker goes a couple inches down from the collarbone and a couple inches from the sternum.
Please list your question and any others on a paper so you can reference that during her telemed visit. I know it's easy to forget what you wanted to ask the dr at the time of the call. 😉
