Since having my pacemaker fitted 10 days ago I can't sleep in my usual curled up position. It's really uncomfortable. Still taking painkillers, but it's more due to feeling it when I lie down. My anxiety has been so much worse since surgery. What position do people find most comfortable to sleep?

I have a CRT-P on left but no defibrillator. I found it best to lie on my right side, with a body pillow in between my legs. I also have a pillow under my head and a very small pillow that I lean into my pacemaker. So I am tucked in with three pillows. I still sleep like that but find that I wake up on my back.

I have my pacemaker over three years. At first I was uncomfortable too but you will find that in time you will settle in. It won't always be this way. It takes a while to heal completely. May you find a good sleep position and get some much needed rest. Hugs

Once things have healed and bedded in, there should be less to worry about.

Although I'm on a pacemaker only, I don't find it uncomfortable. It has a certain amount of give.

The leads will also need to bed in, like the generator, and are fragile for a while. However, when it comes to replacement, it's a whole lot easier as the leads stay in place. It’s almost day surgery.

I bet it's not as bad as my self-inflicted discomfort.

I do model making and restore old sewing machines mainly from the convenience of the bed and bedroom.

Consequently, the old Singer machine and it's parts allow me a few inches of rest room. It's like sleeping in a hammock halfway up a cliff face.

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
