Has anyone here had radiation for prostate cancer ? It seems there are certain risks when you have a pacemaker. If someone has had radiation what was your experience with it ?

Sam, yes there have been a few posts on prostate cancer and radiation therapy and I attach two links that will give good information. You will need to copy and paste the links into your general browser to open.
Have you been told that you will need radiation therapy? I am sure they will keep you well shielded from the radiotherapy field wherever possible and strictly follow safety procedures before, during and after any radiation therapy and carry out any safety checks on your pacemaker during treatment.
Your cancer specialist will no doubt consult with your cardiologist to assess a safe, effective level of radiation for you. They will watch closely for any signs of malfunction of your device caused by interference and take early action to prevent any irreversible damage.
Good luck to you

Personally, I would stick to listening to your own team.
I saw an old mate of mine a week or so ago who has had prostate problems for years and finally had some treatment.
Don't know what, but he seemed chipper enough, a slight too many years in the saddle sort of gait, but probably glad to have been "done".
Good luck

Yes, men do have radiation for prostate cancer with a pacemaker. Let your doctors know that you have a pacemaker. The radiation for prostate cancer is quite a ways from your pacemaker, as you know.
You know you're wired when...
You have a 25 year mortgage on your device.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.

Glad your MRI went well. From what I've read, radiation therapy can happen when you have a pacemaker. Your medical team will know what to do. You might want to fill in your profile page with the type of pacemaker you have so we can answer better.
