navigator interference

Good Evening Friends,
I love this club! I find myself visiting at least twice a day even though I have a very busy life...it's great to have a pm family!
Hopefully, someone can answer this question. We have a car that is less than one year old. The car has a pretty extensive navigation system.
This has given us problems since day one. They fix it and then it goes off again.
Does anyone know if a pacemaker could interfer with the new car navigation systems?

Hi Donna,

It is most unlikely; to the point I would say it is impossible. A pacemaker does not transmit energy or signals over the air waves. The electrical impulses it sends to make you heart beat is conducted to the heart VIA wires. True those electrical impulses can sometimes go to nerves in our body and cause most undesirable results, but in that case body tissue is acting as the electrical conductor. I would, therefore, say the source of the problem originates someplace other than your pacemaker.

Good luck in finding that problem source.

Although pacemakers are amazingly powerful in what they do, they are not capable of transmitting strong signals... period.
And don't let the Car salesperson tell ya otherwise...!

I'm an electronic engineer and I assure you that there is no way the pacemaker can interfere with the navigation system. It would also be very unlikely for the navigation system to interfere with the pacemaker either unless it guided you over a cliff!!
