Drainage

Im 30 years old and I have had my second pacemaker implanted on 10.17.07. I have followed all my post surgery instructions and the area around my pacemaker is draining this yellowish clear goo and I have called the oncall doctor and he says its nothing....I feel that there is a problem....can anyone shed some light?

big big sign of infection and don't let any on-call dr. tell you differently. call your dr. and go on and see him. you sound like you need antibiotics before this gets worse. check to see if it is warm to touch and if you have a fever. jessie

As you just received your pacemaker it is normal for some fluids to come out. The fact that it is more clear is a good sign as this is a process of the body trying to heal.
You should have your follow up apt in a week and I would have it doubled checked at that apt. When it becomes completely yellowish brown like Jessie said that is when you need to go in sooner.
Any incision is going to have fluid come out though so don't stress over it to much as if you do so your body can't heal as fast. I wish you luck on your road to recovery and welcome to this amazing club. If you have any questions feel free to send a private message anytime.
Let us know what happens at your follow up visit. Blessings,
Tammy

Thank you all.....

Well if it's clear and liquiform, I'd guess it's serum leaking out of a small hematoma just under the incision. If it'd clear but grainy that it's probable granulation tissue forming to finish closing the incision. If it's yellow, but foul smelling no matter the texture call your doc or show up on his front steps forst thing. That would look infected to me. I kept triple abx ointment and a bandaid over mine and watched this progression.
