hour 8

Well I wanted to say hi to everyone here. I've been reading along for a while now. In short I developed a crazy autonomic dysfunction a year ago (labile heart rate and blood pressure) lots of episodes of passing out or near passing out with heart rates in the 30's. I did have a period of around 6 weeks where my heart rate fixed itself (after having a seizure from crazy high blood pressure) but the rates came back down. Finally sick of feeling well.....sick all the time and am currently in hour 8 of my life with my pacemaker.

I was able to go home right afterwards as I did the whole shebang under just some local anesthesia (no other drugs) slightly sore but doing ok. Have had some periods where it feels like my heart is flipping out (maybe some PVCs or competing a little bit) but since they set my rate at 60 I'm pretty much 100 percent paced right now. I do have a call out to my doc just to make sure everything is normal but the good news is that I can't believe that I already am feeling better. I actually forgot what feeling good felt like so for now I am going to focus on that and not on the fact I have this little imposter in my body :)

Anyway, blah, blah I wanted to thank you all for helping me to see that the pacer is not the end of the world for a 33 year old. I just need a little adjusting time to realize that I am not perfect but with my little buddy here I can get on with my life.

Excellent! Glad to hear you're doing well. Have a long and healthy life. I'm 32 years with a pacemaker now. Like you, pace all the time. I predict you will do fine. :)
Best to you always,
Gellia

Believe me you will feel better end better today was my 2nd year new birthday with sparky and though it took some getting used to we get along fine now. Welcome to the club, this is such a wonderful site.
Anyway, I like you also have an autonomic dysfunction and was fainting all the time. I was fainting almost daily for 2 years straight. Finally with all different testing and multiple trips to different Dr's I was diagnosed with dysautonomia/POTS.
I am seeing and excellent cardio and this past June got my PM-which had made a dramatic difference.
If you ever want to chat you can email me privatly any time.
Good luck with everything!
Christine

Thanks everyone!

My problem the other night seemed to be my lead intermitantly capturing (I'm only a A paced) but it seemed to settle down over the night and I'm just cruising along at 60 or higher with activity. I hadn't realized they did the rate response with me and when I emailed my doc that the rate had improved I was all excited that my rate was going up with activity only to find out duh it was the pacer not me. Gotta love that :)

Still adjusting to this whole thing....I'm kind of forcing the good attitude until it sticks since I'm really kindof freaked out by the whole thing.

Itching to go the gym but was told no running for a week so I just walked to the mall for some early christmas shopping since no driving for a week...totally didn't know that was going to be part of the deal!

But hey that's such a small thing right? I just still can't believe my hands are pink and warm!!! I'm just going to focus on that and thanks again for such a nice welcome! It's nice to know there's a place i can turn to.

You know you're wired when...

Friends call you the bionic man.
