Defibulator testing

Hi all,
New to the club. I had a PM/Defib installed Aug 2008 and am scheduled to have it tested next week. Anyone with similar experience? What am I in for here??

Thanks,
Mark

You will have no problems, they will place a coil (looks like a donut) over your PM, it is connected to a computer and read out the data stored in your PM. It will tell them everything that has happened since the last readout. Will only take a few minutes. Make sure you have them give you a copy of the readout results. You can learn a lot from it. For instance if yours is like mine it will show you when you had periods of fluid buildup, when you had periods of fast heartbeat etc. good luck

Thanks. For a moment I was not sure if I was getting the cattle prod treatment.

Mark

I had PM defib placed 11-19-07, requested my first reset 12-12-07 as I could not walk over 10' without rest, Dr used echocardiogram to adjust, changing ef from 20 to over 40. I would be interested to hear how your appointment goes.

Welcome to the club and wired status.

Hi, Mark! Welcome!! You will find this site to be quite useful. I had my PM inserted 07/2008. My first check up is next week. I'll try to remember to get back on here and give you the low-down. I assume it will be like my 4 week check up in that they place the little "donut" thingy over it and get the data out of the chip. I guess they'll adjust the setting it based on that information.

Again, welcome to the club and I hope your feeling better. My quality of life has improved since receiving mine!
