Battery Life Expectancy of Medtronic 2005?

I have an Enpulse DR Model # e2DR01AA. I could've sworn I'd heard/read/been told that the battery life was 5-7 years. I'm at 7 years 3 months right now. I'm not insured and just moved, so I don't have a pacer clinic. I called to make an appointment -- I've finally raised the $400, but they said it would be a month. I was sorta freaked, but they said pacers last ten years on average.

Is that true of the 2005 EnPulse? It's dual-chamber; I'm paced 15% lower and 30% upper.

Thanks for any help!

I was feeling quite relieved, until I came across the following. Seems the battery sorta spirals at 6-7.5 years, if I'm not reading this graph wrong:

That sounds a bit high priced

My cardiologist bill Medicare $101 for an office checkup. You might call Medtronic at the number on your ID card and ask for a list of clinics in your area. Ask if any of them use the Medronic rep to do the check.

The time delay for an appointment likely isn't that they are so busy. Most places schedule pacemaker clinics on a monthly basis.

You might also try a little negotiating.

And finally check to see if they will give you a copy of the Initial and Final Interrogation Report. We may be able to help you here in understanding it.

best,

I have the exact same pacemaker

I got mine on November 2nd of 2004 and I pace 89% in the upper chamber and less than 1% in the ventricle....
I still have almost 3 yrs of battery life remaining as of my last check which was July 4th:)

Lots of things come into play however such as your activity level, is your rate response on, your settings may differ greatly from mine (perhaps not using as much), pulse width can extend battery life, the list goes on.

Hope that sorta helps,
Pookie

A thirty-day guarantee is not good enough.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.
