I had both before my ablation in 1995 and 10 months after the medtronic dual, I still have both. Mine is also controlling the AV node which is where the ablation was and I was able to put up with the irregular beats until last November 2009. I don't worry about them unless they stop me from doing what I want to do - I am on Toprol XL and trilipix. I am also 100% and 67% usage - it is just what it is and I try to get over myself.
Get well and learn your new body rythem and when you have a problem, call the cardiologist.

Pacemakers are very reliable devices.

I had asked the doc if we could try a new drug (forget which now, was on so many trying to stop Afib) & I went into flutter. They did the cardio conversion that was planned & altho still in Afib but stopped flutter. I had the AV node ablation later & a PM. That was 10 yrs ago, newer procedures now, but altho still in Afib paced 100% & OK now. I hope the newer type of ablation helps you.Let us know.
Good luck,
Janet
