Recent studies have found that pacing that bypasses the cardiac conduction system can result in heart failure hospitalization in ten to twelve percent of patients. (See PacemakerPatientAdvocacy on the net.) Is your ventricular pacing lead in the apex of the right ventricle, bypassing the cardiac conduction system?
To manage your heart health, ask your doctor what your ventricular ejection fraction is and follow it over time. As you can see from Karen's story on the above website, pacemaker induced heart failure is reversible.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
