Hi,
I am a 34yr Krav Maga practioner (self defense, somewhat similar to kickboxing). I have had my pm installed due to a 3rd degree AV block in 2010. In 2011 I started practicing Krav Maga again (after 1 year break) with caution again and it's working fine for me, although I am always careful no to fall on my chest, getting my arms pulled backwards or get any punches to the chest.
Are there any long time PM-wearing martial artists here, who actually NEVER had any problems, just...

I have been deadlifting but when I start getting around 495lb I start to have discomfort above my pace maker around where the leads would be, I have heard that if you deadlift to much your coller bone could come down on to the first rib thus crushing the pace maker wire. My doc told me when I first got my device that all I could do is run, he didn't want me to lift any weights not just for the first part of healing but forever, I dont think so, I'm lifting anyway.
Yeah I did it !

I marked and yes celebrated my 12 week PM implant surgery date today, going back to something I have gotten to love, spinning!
I was spining once a week, and working out the other 6 days doing elliptical prior to having my heart throw me a big ole wrench into my lifestyle and life in general.
I am so happy, actually estatic that I went back today, the instructor whom I work with and know well, was well, cautious to say the least....she kept asking me how I felt........guess she figured ok as...

After my pacemaker installation I went home and got a fever. They put me back in the hospital and said they were going to do a bunch of tests and probably not find anything. Thats what they did and they didnt find anything. Talked to my Doc. at the C Clinic and he said it was probably just a virus. Talked to my dear brother and told him the checked me out and I was normal and he said maybe they should do a few more tests.
Played tennis and just for fun I said to my buddies, now yo...

I have had my pacemaker for 12 weeks now and I can now have full motion with my right arm (pacemaker was put on my right side, not my left) and I want to get back into uper body weight lifting. I know that bicep and tricep curls are not going to be a problem, but, i'm very cautious still about my arm. I have questions about the following areas though.
bench press
military press
lat press
rowing
If you could also share what YOU do and what areas you wo...

Hi,
I've been trawling the internet looking for an answer to my question and I came across this forum.
I've had a DDDR pacemaker for over 10 years, with absolutely no complications. My heart ran as close to normal as it can (considering).
For various reasons (well one), I have developed a heart flutter and pm has gone into vvi, which means I'm dependent on movement for my heart rate to increase. This means when I cycle my heart rate doesn't go up. It makes cycling har...

Just had my six week check-up and things couldnt be much better. I got my pacer at the Cleveland Clinic and as you know they are a pretty good place. Originally they told me I could exercise all I wanted to, cardio, but no weights. I did it. They said it would take 3-4 weeks for the leads to secure themselves. At 4 weeks I went back to most of my normal routine. They did suggest I use less weight for weight training and do more reps. I mentioned that one exercise, shoulder shrugs, hurt so I sto...

I have been diagnosed with SSS and still occasionally have a vagal-type episode. This does not bother me much and in the 9 yrs that I have had a PM, I have not fainted.
First of all I am really pleased with myself. I went in a hover challange at the gym and lasted 9 mins. I won a month free gym and more importantly the respect of the gym staff. If I had have beaten the instructor, I would have won 3mths (he lasted 10 mins and is half my age).
Now here is my crazy thoughts. At the 9 mi...

I saw there has been some recent discussion on maxing out heart rates and I wanted to touch base on my recent PM interrogation. I am diagnosed with 2nd (3rd or complete) heart block (depending on which records I look at, neurocardiogenic syncope, POTS, a blood clotting disorder, and I'm being treated for lupus. I am in my mid-thirties and am very active (25-45 miles a week). My lower limit is set at 70 and my higher limit is set at 140. I have the rate drop response turned on.

Has any one had experience with a heart monitor that works with the iphone (and a pace maker). I have been looking at the wahoo for iphone and it looks pretty good. You can get a back up battery pack for it and a bicycle mount. I just don't know if a pacer will effect it. Are there other models that work with the iphone?
My Garmin doesn't work and I tried a Polar and I didn't like it.
This is kind of a long shot but is any one here going to the Senior Games in St, George Utah...

I had my Sorin Esprit DR fitted December 2011
I then started going to the Gym as i am overweight and over fifty
Time to start looking after my self.
And found I love running.
I want to keep an eye on my heart rate while running.
So when i went for my 6 monthly checkup i asked if it was ok to use a Heart rate monitor while at the Gym.

A week later this is the response i received.

Three weeks today and Im feeling great. Had my pacer switched from sensitivity to activity based and it made all the difference. Coached one of my soccer teams Tuesday, 7th/8th graders, didnt tell them about the pacemaker. I was able to scrimmage with the kids with no problems. However, my boy did tell me to tone it down a few times. Did my stationary bike for 60 minutes yesterday and 19 miles. Was even able to take it up to the max. resistance of 16. I have a Schwinn 150. I usually do cardio...
