Early Oct. ICD interrogation indicated 5 year remaining battery life for my device installed spring 2021. A week later the 16 beep warnings started. I had previously experienced this signal in 2021 after my 1st device lasted 7 yrs before battery depletion.
Met with Boston Scientific Rep and it was determined a sudden battery depletion had occurred. Immediate replacement was required and scheduled for the next morning. One lasted 7 years and anot...

Does the bedside monitor for Medtronic pacemakers work well? I'm not liking the phone battery drain from the MCL heart app.
I am new to the app but found a couple of things. The MCL heart app eats about 10% of the phone battery every day, (fairly new Samsung phone). if I turn on my phone's "power saving" mode, it makes the MCL heart app drain twice as fast, eating 20 - 30% of the phone's battery every day. Then when I turn power saving on the...

Does anyone have an opinion on whether it's ok to eat bananas and kale or other food high in potassium with Bisoprolol? I've just seen info that suggests it's not a good idea....
BIOMASS BOILER AND PACEMAKER

I have a biomass boiler that uses wood pellets, put in 7 years ago when the government were giving grants for green energy. It is being serviced today. The engineer when I told him aboyt my recent PM told me that there is a HUGE magnet at the back of the boiler and I should be careful.
I have been putting pellets in the hopper daily and have had no reaction (which probably speaks for itself), but wondered if anyone had any thoughts or opinions. It's a Grant boiler.

Hi, I have a straight pacemaker, one that stops one half of my heart falling below 60bpm.
It was fitted about ten years ago but will need new batteries and/or replacement in the next two years or so.
My question for anyone who has had this done *on the English NHS* is what kind of checks to they put you through before the new procedure?
Is there any new assessment made of the heart or is it simply old machine out, new one in. I recall before I had my first PM...

I'm wondering if anyone has had a Medtronic PM changed to another brand and if you're happy with the decision if you did.
I have a Medtronic Azure dual chamber and paced nearly 100% both Atrial and ventricular. I'm not happy with the rate response for many reasons. I want a PM with a rate response that is more physiological.
I'm active and also find that during any normal work activities where my rate response should kick in, it doesn't. I've had it a...

So put it in general!
Having had my PM inserted 4 weeks ago, and having suffered severe anxiety at every twinge, flutter and stab in my chest, thinking I might die, I had my first PM assessment at Ipswich Hospital.
I WAS TOLD IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY!
They turned the PM up to simulate the response I was getting at home and confirmed it was a referred reaction and nothing to worry about. My supposed missed heartbeats, aren't missing, and there were only 2 notable issues o...

After 18 months, I can honestly say that I don't even notice the device. I continue to exercise regularly (running 3-4 miles 2-3 times per week, swimming, sauna and cold plunge, mid-level strength training).
I'm almost 58 and will say that having the PM has absolutely provided me with better health. BTW, go ahead and travel. I just came back from a 2-weeks trip to South America (from the Amazon river, the Sacred Valley in the Andes and Machu Picchu in Peru, to...

For anyone else considering leadless, here's what I've learned so far
Aveir is first generation, Micra is third generation.
Aveir is intended to be retrieved at end of life, Micra is left in. There have been Micras removed and it should get more common, but for now they are generally left in.
Aveir does not have remote monitoring, Micra does.
Aveir can be implanted with two devices to give true dual chamber pacing. The two of them talking to each other si...

I don't know if anyone can shed any light....I had my PM (Medtronic Azure) inserted a month ago for stage 3 HB and am taking 2.5mg Bisoprolol twice daily. As I have said before, I am getting what can only be described as flutterings at the top of my abdomen, and a heartbeat in the same place. It makes me feel unwell and frightened.
I am also getting occasional ringing in my ears and a heartbeat in my head which makes me feel like it's high blood pressure and I'm absolutely e...

With the move to more remote monitoring with our devices, so the need for a reliable power supply.
Where I live, in a town not the countryside, I get a disproportionate number of power cuts. I had 8 in one day a few years ago.
Last night we had one and again this morning. It causes chaos.
I'm on the medical devices register of the power company and they phone if there is a new or imminent interruption. This morning's cut was probably finishing repairs.
The trou...

After implantation of my dual chamber pacemaker (approx 2 months ago) and a revision (3 weeks ago), both for failure of the V-lead..apparently neither time was it secured in the ventricular wall. I am to have another revision this week (I chose another institution!).
Currently iI appears that the V-lead has moved into my atrium, but has been turned off, and I am pacing only from the atrial lead. Before this I had long runs of atrial tachycardia and intermittent A-fib. That stopped...

My mother recently bought some bracelets made of hematite, there seems to be conflicting information online on if this is safe for her to wear
https://www.coopersofstortford.co.uk/stretch-hematite-bracelet/
It doesn't say it's "magnetic hematite", which seems to be a different word for another material altogether, this is just "normal" hematite it would seem, would anyone be able to give me a concrete answer on if this is fine for her pacemaker?

1st Time Pacemaker.
Edora8 DRT inserted in September. Cruise planned next May.
I usually wear a seasick patch behind my ear. Anyone experience contra-indications or complications from it?
Thank you.
