I started physical rehab after many months complications. Got my pacemaker adjusted which made me feel so much better. I am returning to myself and so excited about life. Thank goodness I have a pacemaker that goes off for Neuro cardiogenic syncope, heart stopped for 45 seconds a few times. I am grateful for this beautiful life!

Just got my pacemaker 2 weeks ago. Took a bit to get it adjusted right but all is well now. My Doc said I could return to all activities in 4 weeks. I'm using my stationary bike for now, 40 minutes the last 2 nights. And when I exercise I exercise hard. SOme one mentioned the bouncing of mountain biking. I asked my Doc about jet skiing, which has a lot of bouncing, and he said it would be fine after recovery. I also coach 2 soccer teams and play golf and tennis. The Doc said that I shouod be abl...

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I go back to the clinic next week for another review of my settings and I plan on bringing your suggestions with me. Since running is very important to me hopefully I can get closer to what I think I'm capable of. NOT RUNNING IS NOT AN OPTION !

Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering if any of you know of anywhere I can get protective gear for my pacemaker??? I play a heavy contact sport and my Cardio has assured me I can go back playing. My PM is implanted under the muscle but obviously when I go back I'll need some additional protection so if anyones knows of any protective gear I'd appreciate it.

Have a Boston Scientific S603 rate responsive pacemaker that was implanted in Nov 2010. Was just getting used to it when I had some ablations for Afib and flutter in Feb of this year. Have been a serious runner for years and regularily at the top of my age group. Now, after several attempts to get my PM adjusted, I can run/jog at a moderate pace with no problem but when I want to run in a race I can't get started. Most recent attempt had me walking several times in the first mile as it seemed li...

Hi all,
Trying to get fitter / lose more weight and was very keen to get a set of scales that not only weighs but measure body fat too - the only problem I see is the fact that the scales use bioelectrical impedance (low current to complete the body mass test. As ever there is conflicting advice (much like the airport - walk thru v hand held metal detector debate)
Do anyone have experience of using this type of product with a pacemaker ?
I might add that mine is one o...

Are there any mountain bike riders here? I just got my pace maker 1 week ago.I ride my bike 3 to 4 times a weed and my concern is, will the constant bouncing and body movement affect the pacing of the PM? I think I read on here a while back that it might make it pace faster when its not needed. If it does how will that affect me?
The pacer is a medtronic RVDR01. Its for bradycardia with no other medical problems.

walking on a treadmill the highest i can get my heartbeat is about 108. I am fully paced, and my cardiologist said that was good. I have the pacemaker with defib because i have CHF. i was down to 20% EF. it is now up to 50%. If i push it on the treadmill i start to see a bright white light. it starts as several small spots and they merge and it starts growing. I know from past history that i will pass out if i keep pushing and let it grow too big. I have posited to my cardiologist that this is m...

Hi All!
I have a pacemaker inmplanted on the left side of my chest and I'm right handed. Is it OK to shoot a bow? I would think it would be because I will pull with my right arm, but there will still be force on my left, so I wanted some different views on this. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hello all:
I am paced 100% of the time due to complete heart block.
After continued problems with low heart rate during exercise, my cardiologist upped my settings: most sensitive rate response and 165 bpm.
My heart rate went up to its proper rate during exercise, but I began to experience burning chest discomfort while running.
An angiogram appeared normal. However, a nuclear stress test showed problems with blood flow during exercise.
As...

I am an avid cyclist and had a Boston Scientific PM installed in June, 2012. I have bradycardia which was causing me to pass out when my heart rate dropped too low (like at the breakfast table).
I am having problems with the feature that detects changes in breathing and/or activity level. I ride up and down hills and have no problem climbing up the hills. But after I have started downhill (just coasting for the most part--but going pretty fast and hitting a few bumps) the PM decide...

Hi all, i haven't been on here in a while. I was fitted with a pacemaker for 2nd degree heart block in April 2010 at the age of 27 and if i'm honest, i didn't cope too well with it. I started drinking a lot and carried on smoking too much. Then in August 2011 my little boy was born and it was like a slap in the face to wake me up! I knew i had to sort myself out mentally first so i took it slowly.
On New Years eve 2011 i was smoking 20 a day and weighed 250 pounds. On New years day...

Hi all
In July 2011, three days after climbing up Peny-ghent one of the three Yorkshire peaks in the UK I ran out of electricity and had to have an emergency pacemaker fitted at the wonderful LGI in Leeds, UK. I had total heart block. Im now 48 years old.
Previous to my Pacemaker I was fit, exercised regular and cycled 20 / 30 UK miles every other day so most probably fit in with the theories of too much exercise wears you out, but hey ho eh. I for the last 8 months Ive...

While on a run last feb. 26, I entered a dizzy spell that ultimately resulted in an ICD defib/pacemaker for ventricula tachycardia. The problem arises in my right ventricle. None of the medical people I dealt with had a clue as to what caused this to happen to my ventricle... I happened on a study published in the "Mayo Clinic Proceedings" June issue, entitled "Potential Adverse Cardiovascular Effects From Excessive Endurance Exercise" and this explained my situation to a T! Would like to hea...

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
