I had my appointment with the EP, that ended up being an appointment with his Nurse Practioner, this last Friday. The 30 min appointment ended up being over 4 hours and was exhausting. I did get the PM adjusted. They didn't change the HR but adjusted other settings that had an immediate impact and I felt 100% better. However in the testing it appeared that only one of the leads (to the ventricle) was working properly. The atrial lead was intermittent and they were concerne...

Greetings all,
I'm a 36 year old male, former competitive cyclist, diagnosed with level 3 AV block at 18yrs old. Just got my first PM installed on Monday. I am concerned that my doc is not listening to me when I ask for my maximum assisted HR to be set higher than 130. Previously, before being paced, my "endurance" pace heart rate would be between 90-110, and my absolute max was about 135.
My resting rate, paced, has been set at 6...

Hi everyone,
I've just had a 3rd PM interrogation & it is working as it should do I am assured. I was a tad surprised when told I was being paced at 98% upper & 2% lower is that good or bad?
Has anyone had their lower Pacemaker BPM rate lowered at night to improve sleep if so has it worked, my own PM lower rate is set at 65bpm day & night. So we talked & have adjusted it too 55bpm at night in the hopes my sleep pattern improves ( I constantly wa...

I have had my Boston Sci. pacemaker since Jan 2015 and have always been called in for Pacer lab once a year along with appt. with Dr. Seems I have been forgotten this year as I was last year. I have had no problems with pacemaker. I am 76 yo. How often should I have a pacer lab appointment?
Used to be on monitor and received bill every three months then the bill stopped so I unplugged it.

Hello everyone!
I wanted to get thoughts on the rate response setting on our PM. I have a Biotronik Edora 8 DR-T dual chamber PM. With that said I've learned that it has different rate response features. Initially I had the CLS setting and it capped at 140BPM but it kept going off and made me feel awful. They lowered it to 120BPM and it made a difference but I'm not sure if it helped me or not. Anyhow they've turned that feature off and activated another which responds to my...

Does anyboody have experience with a pacemaker that paces the heart too fast - ie, significantly faster than needed for the activity at hand and/or faster than the heart is used to? What are the sensations you have experienced.
I ask because I have swum a mile or more three times a week for over 50 years and also spent several decades on beta or calcium channel blockers while dealing with paroxysmal atrial fib. The result was an ultra efficient heart, a resting pulse i...

Newbie (82 years) … some of the posts give information that I don't follow. However, here's my situation:
A couple of years ago it was found that I had aortic stenosis and I was given a new (non metallic) valve. All went OK.
I've been on a 2.5 mg diuretic (Benza-something or other) and 20 mg Simvastatin for quite a few years. This was because of high b/p ... this high b/p is under control.
Because of a heart flutter I was put on Apixaban (2 x 5mg daily) ab...

I got my device last year, June, 2019. When should I begin to wonder how much power is left in the battery and to whom do I go to if it runs down?

This is my second post. Thanks to those who commented on my 1st post.
again I am only 7 weeks into my dual lead St Jude PM. I have read a lot on the Pacemaker.com forums and it seems there was a post about some PM’s being more sensitive than others to begin with. I’ve read that the phone and I-pad are ok if they’re at least 6 inches away from the PM...and I try to remember that but sometimes I’ll notice I’m holding too close an...

Hello,
I'm 38 and had a dual lead pacemaker fitted 3 weeks ago, thus I'm a new member here. My issue was that I was getting a couple of daily sinus pauses or gaps in my heart beat which were picked up on the ecg, with up to 7 seconds at a time. No heart deseases or heart block thankfully. I also have a lowish heart rate often in the 50's thus my PM is set to fire up below 40bps.
Pre-pacemaker the dizzy episodes tended to c...

I am a very active 58 year old woman who received a PM in late February 2020 due to Bradycardia and arrhythmia. The PM is set to a minimum of 60 bpm. While overall, I think things are fine, I've noticed lately that my legs are constantly tired and fatigued, I am having trouble catching my breath even after simple activities, my resting heartrate last week was consistently in the low 50's and my heartrate drops into the 40's during the day (it s...

I had a loop recorder inserted last year. This reported bpm below 30 at night and some heart stops of more than 3 secs then I nearly fainted at breakfast having a sudden pulse to my head and down my arms.
Now I have a pacemaker and it's set to 60 - 130. They said MY battery will probably last a very long time. I'm not worried about how long the battery lasts but since my normal heart rate has always been 52 why set to 60. I'm feeling...

Just had my first visit with my new EP, although she kept saying she is technically an "engineer" not a tech (still not sure what that means). Anyways she did a much more thorough interrogation then my prior tech, seemed to know her stuff. She said I have been having "quite a number" of atrial tachycardia episodes. I told her I had some in the past and that my old tech said it was normal in people paced in both ventricle and atrium, she looked like she disagree...

This site is really helpful and I hope I’m not “ overusing “ the information found here !
On June 30th I have my first doctor visit since my PM was implanted. The Medtronic rep will be there as well. My doctor said they would “tweak” and “ fine tune” the PM.
. What kinds of questions do I need to ask ?? Other than occasional high BP ( 164/88) I’m getting along great and feel so much better.
i have LBBB and I believe I have two...

Hey all- I'm 1 year in from having my PM. Everything had been going fine until this week I kept having some dizzy/nauseous spells this week. Started off right after I excercised, but then dragged on and I was just constantly light headed and dizzy.
Got some bloodwork done, and all came back good. My EP switched my minimum bpm from 60 to 70 and now I feel so much better (at least not light headed and nauseous). It may be too high of a setting, but I'll take the return to nor...
