Hi Everyone.
I had my first pacemaker fitted 5th December 2022 within 2 hours of leaving the operating room my x-ray showed a lead was displaced. They took me back into surgery removed the pacemaker corrected the lead and implanted another pacemaker.
Two months later, I felt chest pain and took myself to the ER, after making me sit waiting for 13hrs I discharged myself after an x-Ray.
A couple of weeks later they contacted me to confirm that another lead was displaced. 6 mon...

Hi,
8 years ago I had a Bostin Scientific placed and it was the best thing ever. I instantly felt better. A few months a go I was asleep and was woken up with my chest and left arm jumping so hard you could see it across the room. I called an ambulance and they could see my ekg was way off. I was pacing before I should have been and out of rythym. Went to the closest hospital and they said they had never seen anything like it. ...

I had my pacemaker procedure on Monday Nov. 4th. 90 minutes in the recovery room all seemed to be well, I was even having a little lunch. That all ended when the doctor walked in and said the X-ray had shown that the atrial lead had "dropped" and that they would have to go back in to correct it. I had to wait until the next day since I had already been fed... needless to say I was very upset.
The second operation seems to have corrected the lead dislodgement and I a...

After the 6 week all clear check I started running again (advice of consultant)
I used to run and had been lifting weights fit 60 years old.
In early June I was experiencing blocking symptoms while running.
I suffered blocks all summer and eventully contacted the clinic about the symptoms.
The technican after 2 ecgs and a...

I am new to all this and do apologise that my post is longish. I had bradycardia in the low 30s with 3 to 4 second pauses, and occasional atrial fibrillation. A dual lead Boston Scientific pacemaker was placed 4 weeks ago intended for atrial pacing, with ventricular capture only if necesary. However I now need to go in for a reposition or replacement of the RV lead because it has been showing increasing voltage at each check since my surgery (now double...

If your EP suspects you may have a lead fracture, did your EP give you any test before doing lead revision or replacement , such as chest xray or echo or Fluoroscopy? Or just simply based on the interrogation report alert?
I want to know if there are any tests available to evaluate the urgency to fix the lead.
Thanks

I finally found the reason why the doctor thought my father's pacemaker may have lead issue with 300+ short V-V interval.
There is a A SIC count >300: The threshold value used to identify potential lead failures. Here is what I got what I asked Meta AI:
The accuracy of the SIC (Sensed Impedance Change) counter in Medtronic pacemakers is generally high, but may vary depending on factors like:
1. Device model and software version
2. Lead design and positioning

Since my father would like to have second opinion and so we pushed our procedure till a later time. The EP said the fracture usually will not cause sudden death, but it may cause some symptoms. Can you share your experience if you have experience fractures?
Thanks in advance

My father is trying to set up an appointment for pacemaker lead revision consultation in UCSF. I was told there is no physician doing this procedure in UCSF and they have a provider from Veteran Hospital coming one day in a month to do surgery. I would like to know if anyone experience similiar situation that the provider works in a hospital that you can not become a patient of and any drawback of this situation? Also I can not believe the physicians from such a big hospital d...

Hey everyone!
So it has been day 5 after my LV lead were put in its place😆and I feel good, nah nah nah nah...was only sedated as I woke up with the first try on June 13. Dr lifted the cloth that was used to cover my vision every few minutes or so so we had some "eye" banter going on there🫣🙃 Thank you for all your support and assurance that it would go well! My 89 year old father installed his pacemaker due to low heart rate in 2017 and now he is 99.98% dependent on pacemaker. Recently his doctor did the pacemaker check and download the reports for his pacemaker and there are 300+ short interval noises since 2022. He recommends to do lead revision to avoid bad things from happening and battery change since it will run out in 1.5 years. My father did not feel anything and no symptoms at all. I am wondering if he should go th...

I am a serious newbie have only had this since Wednesday morning and honestly scared to death I will pull the leads out. The decision to implant this came up so quickly I didn't have time to breathe. At 3 in the morning with my shoulder on fire at the incision site I keep wondering what I got myself into. How long does it take before the jim jams go away?

Hey everyone! So glad to have found this site! Had a pm inplanted on 13 June '24. Had 23 years of tachycardia/brady/extra systoles and eventually syncope. Upon release from CCU after 2 days, I noticed excrutiating stabbing pain under left rib. Went back to thoracic surveon and him and technician said all looked fine. Pain eventually went away after 4 weeks and was replaced by pacing under my skin at exact place where stabbing pain was. Specialist tech came and found the Ventricular lead i...

I had a follow up with my EP today to let her know I decided I will be having my lead extraction (4 leads) and new generator as well as two new leads placed in Los Angeles (Cedar Sinai) by a cardiac surgeon opposed to with her and her team locally.
she highly recommended that I ask that the cardiac surgeon for left bundle pacemaker (conduction system pacing)
she said that's all she does now and if he can't do it hopefully he can bring an EP in that can. She sa...

6 weeks ago I got my 5th dual chamber Medtronic pm. I also had my ventricle lead extracted and replaced. Since having pm's I have always been short of breath after going up a flight of stairs. But since getting this new pm and new lead, I can climb stairs and not be out of breath at the top. I asked the Medtronic tech and she said it was probably the newer (better) lead. My cardiologist, he's also an EP, says he has no idea. My settings are the same as they were with my former pm...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
