I had my pacemaker adjusted this past Wednesday for the first time. The goal was to help me sleep better. Well, it didn't work. Still woke up many times during the night and still felt a "flicking" sensation in my chest.
So, my doctor wants to see me again this afternoon. I hate missing so much work. I'm going to have to come in on the weekend just to catch up.
Very frustrated at this point and the doctor is already talking about putting me on sleeping pills, which I'd like to avoid at all costs because I don't want to become dependent on them.
I have an Adapta pacemaker and am diagnosed with NCS.
How many adjustments does it usually take? (I know everyone is different, just looking for a ball-park number)

adjustments

It's frustrating and I feel your pain! Trust that they will get it right. They like to make changes in small increments, that's better than making a lot of changes all at once. If they do a lot of changes and it doesn't fix it, they don't know where they went wrong. Slow and steady is better than drastic so try to be patient with them.
They make sleeping pills that are not addictive. And sometimes just using them for a few nights will help break the cycle of not sleeping well, then you'll be fine on your own. Have you tried a benedryl? It's otc and safe for just about everyone, the primary side effect is sleepiness so it's sometimes used as a mild sleeping pill.
Number of adjustments

Depends not only on your condition and model of pacemaker, but even more on the skill of the person making the adjustments.
I would probably still be waiting for the right adjustments if I hadn't built my own ECG and studied up on the pacer.

I had a replacement implanted one month ago- Medtronic Adapta DR01. I have had three adjustments not right so far. I get dressed & become short of breath , walk upstairs etc. They changed the activity mode & I have appointment this Weds. with the rep, doctor at the hospital clinic.
My old one that lasted seven & half years Medtronic Kappa worked perfect from day one.
This one not doing good for me but hope it improves soon.
Would like to hear of other people's problem with this pm.
