I had a pacemaker put in on June 12, 2009. They did an ablation and pacemaker, so I am dependent on it. I would appreciate if someone could share their experience for healing and things that are down the road. fl-grandma

FL-GrandMa~

Welcome to our wonderful family! Get the camera, snap a picture and get it posted!

Suggestions from Harley63:

1) Get a shower chair/stool and handheld shower wand to make bath time easier. Will help to conserve your energy.

2) Drink plenty of fluids & eat very balanced meals.

3) Get a good nights sleep and take an afternoon nap if possible. Talk with your MD if your unable to sleep at night. A sleeping pill might be of assistance.

4) Come to the pacemakerclub (PM) site often and read all the messages & responses. You will find it is filled with information.

5) Get an ID band which indicates you have a pacemaker.

Take care and send private messages if you need to talk.

I agree with Harley 63. I am almost an old timer. 7 months or so now. Sometimes I even forget I have one. Never thought I would say that. THis site has helped me tremendously. Some of the people here are phoenominal.
Ask any question, no matter how silly it may seem. Often little things you never think about are mentioned. Like I asked a question about my mike and earphones I use with my computer. (it writes what I speak if I speak clealy) and got all the answers I needed and one small warning. I can use the earphones well, especially on the right side (not the left) as long as i don't drop the earphones around my neck (as some do) because of the magnets. If you do need to talk, please feel free to contact through the private messages. Also when going through the security stands at stores, don't stop to talk to anyone too long, just go through normally. Remember, our pm's make us survivors.
