I got up this morning after a good nights sleep. I had been having a hard time sleeping as I did not want to take the pain medicine and was not. Yesterday a friend that knows me well told me to take what the doctor ordered before I went to bed. This I did and had a good nights sleep and woke up rested and in good spirits. To get on the computor this morning and find all your support was also a God sent. Your suggestions were so good. As suggested I have read many of the messages, which I have found really helpful. I now know I am not alone with some of my fears etc. Thanks Carolyn

You have to remember everyone is a little different and it's normal to have pain and soreness after your surgery. We're all here and I have found this site and the people so helpful.

Just for clarification...
My suggestion of icing the incision site is just that...a suggestion.
I am acutely aware that everyone is different and will have their own experience when it comes to recuperating after pm surgery. I never suggested that it is not normal to have pain and soreness after surgery. Hello! I've had this surgery, too! I was just offering my suggestion based off of my experience in order to help and give another option to try. I did have a pain pill in the hospital, but it made me throw-up. Once I was further out from my surgery and before I was discharged from the hospital, I decided FOR ME that the pain wasn't so great as was the general acheiness. The best thing for me was to just ice my site. By no means did my suggestion infer that this would work for everyone or that is should replace meds if someone needs them.

...some of the best people you'll never meet. And then again, some of us make close friendships and do meet up. Either way, you're in good hands here. :) I'm glad you had a good night's rest. Rest always helps to clear your head and get a clearer perspective.
I didn't take any pain meds after surgery but my site did ache for awhile. Another suggestion for you is to try icing the site off an on throughout the day when you find it starting to bother you.. I found this to work wonders!
Hang in there, Carolyn!
