SSS and hard workouts

I have been diaged with SSS and had a pacer put in about 7 months ago for 'heart naps' where my heart would stop beating for several seconds and cause syncope episodes. I have been working out pretty steadily since implant but have recently upped my workouts to above threshold hour plus workouts. Did my first two hour one today and feel like crap after it. About 4 years ago did these on a regular basis but today I feel like crap afterwards. Anyone else with SSS have experience with really hard, long workouts? My doc says besides a little afib and some blood pressure he is watching I am all set to go but wanted to see what folks here have to say. BTW, I am 50 and my AHR for this workout was 141 for the two hours with a max of 159. I have hit 180 since implant on a mt. bike climb but haven't tried an extended threshold or above workout for > 1 hour until today.

I also was diagnoised with SSS and since getting my new exercise heart monitor I have tried to see if I am getting my heart rate up to its max potential, and that is harder than I thought. I have been running (only 2.5 -4miles) 4-5times week for 8 years but never had a monitor just went by how tired I was. So I did get it up to 169 with AHR 140 but for only around 35min. I think if I would have gone for two hours it would have killed me!! I am quite impressed with your time!! Maybe some day I'll get there, Carol

Running kills me (and my two bad knees and one bad ankle) but I when I found Spinning several years ago I found a great heart workout that was a lot easier on the joints. Cycling is also great if you have big hills near you or if you can push for some long (3-5 miles) distances without having to stop of stop lights/signs or other things. I can only run at near max HR for maybe 5 minutes before breaking down but can keep the same HR on a spin bike for probably 20-30 minutes before hitting a wall. As for at and above threshold but below max, can keep that so far for 2 hours but need to be able to get it up to about 5-6 by July.

First week of spin classes are done and so far so good. AHR through the 4 classes has been about 144 (right about 85%) with a MHR of 175 (103%). Feeling better about pushing it (the class environment helps here also I think) and while I still feel fatigued a little after the workouts I haven't hit the wall like I did with the 2 hour one last weekend. Will continue to ramp up and will try and post updates.
