Hello everyone:
I have been wearing a PM now for 1-1/2 years, I often wonder of the effects the recoil from a large bore rifle (Sharps 45-110) would have on the leads placed in my heart. Will the jolt tear the leads from the walls of my heart. Yesterday I asked the PM Tech this question who replied I had nothing to worry about. He cautioned me though to never place the butt of the rifle on my left shoulder where the PM is planted.
Has anyone one heard of an event that would cause me concern regarding this matter?

Ask any question you like because you just never know who might want to add something just for you. I would check below as well, but here is my 2¢ worth....
It's been my experience with shooting that I have no problems with my husbands rife, a 30-06. No problem at all. I always use my right shoulder as I am right handed. My pacemaker (a dual lead) is on the left. I prefer to shoot my 12 gage shotgun though because I like shooting skeet!. I haven't had any problems with the leads and I follow my drs. instructions so I don't expect any problems in the future. I think we are going out target shooting on Tues. next week! Yippee!
Happy shooting,

You've had your implant for quite awhile. The leads are well fibrosed in place with the ventricular lead stuck well in tribicula (Any of the supporting strands of connective tissue projecting into an organ and constituting part of the framework of that organ) of the right ventricle, and the atrial lead (if you have a dual chamber pulse generator) is well fibrosed in the atrial appendage. In fact if a lead suffers a shortage (rare occurance unless mfg. defect) a new lead is implanted and the old lead left in place as they cannot be removed without great difficulty. Hope this note gives you some assurance.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
