i've been there
Hello everyone
i was 39 when i had my heart attack my left side was blocked 100 percent for about 1 hr, a month later my right side was blocked 80 percent, then i failed my last test and the doctor said i need an icd, boy i felt like my life was over 39 a county job and a icd, well i told the doc i would lose my job because i was a bus driver for Akron Metro Rta, he said your job or life, well i told him who would hire me with an icd, so i had it put in and two weeks later they fired me, wow my life is over a county job, my union left me in the street, welfare would not help me out either, go fiqure. whats new. LIFE SUCKS but i did not give up hope, then i got a good job enough to get by,my bills are paid, wish i had better for, i mean healthy. all i have to say is just dont give in keep going, and it will all work out. we all need to stick together, any question feel free to right.

I think it is totally wrong that you can be fired for having a pacemaker put in. Maybe medically retired but fired that is totally wrong. I just had mine put in a week and a half ago. I work in law enforcement. My Dr. said I can go back to work full duty in a month. We will see what the county says when the time comes.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.

So glad your life has turned around and you are much healthier. I know there is a greater being, of which I do not know yours, but I do know IF I will let God take over for me, my life becomes a lot simpler and a lot more productive. I have and am always trying to "steer"/ control my every move, but sometime, I just say, "ok, I can't do this anymore" & lo' & behold ~ my life just starts being really good again & my sun shines in.
Sorry about your bus driving days, but the health officials do frown on bus drivers who have heart attacks, etc. State law mandates them to not let you, with heart problems, drive multiples of people. I am surprised the bus officials did not "catch" your heart problems in your hiring process.
Hang in there, bengi67, it sounds like your sun is shining on you, Carolyn G. in TEXAS ( :
