Hello all - I am 3 weeks post PM placement. How long do the implant site and surgical site stay sore to the touch? Just wondering what is a reasonable expectation on my part.

PM Implant Incision

It all depends on the physical and mental health of the PM recipient. I read on the PM Club comments where, after a very lengthy time, the person is still having problems adjusting to, not only the thoughts of a PM, but the "feelings" of the site of the PM.
As a female and not knowing what to expect, I went & bought a lot of open front, zip-up "day dresses" because I "just knew" I could not move/use/raise my left arm (PM side) for weeks/months, being a invalid while recuperating (ha-ha), according to all I had read everywhere, I could find something to read. Well, after about 2 weeks, of placing the left arm first in my many newly purchased, open front, zip dresses, I learned my becoming an invalid for a couple of months just was not going to happen! Now, the local home for the elderly will be enjoying a lot of new "day dresses".
After about 2 weeks, I was sleeping on my left side, but letting my legs/right arm do the "lifting" of my body.
It has been 2 1/2 months now and unless I just accidentally "bump" the "energizer bunny" with something, I never remember it is there. Sure, there are days I just "over do" and then I can feel a lil' itching or a slight "tug", but that goes away after resting.

Sore

I am 4 wks post op and the surgical site is still sore but tolerable. While the area is still a little swollen. I find the itching to be much more bothersome than the pain. Wearing a sport bra helps keep the surgical site protected and adds enough pressure to keep the pm area secure.

Sore

I'm 12 weeks post op and only the outer edges are sore. And only sometimes. Like if I lay on that side to sleep too long or a bra strap hits it for too long.
I iced mine every night before bed for weeks. The cold seemed to numb it very well. You could try that.
Good luck
