Hi,
I am now the proud owner of a pm and am 24hrs post op, doing well...albeit surreal. Have only had 3 lots of panadol for pain over incision and that's it. After some discussion with my surgeon the pm was inserted on my right side underneath the collarbone, I had looked at having it under breast instead, but went with traditional placement.
I was discharged from hospital this morning and other then a sore chest, feel great! The pm was checked / tested and technician said all looked good. The only thing I'm wondering is that I've had a few 'half' lightheaded episodes where I feel as though I am going to be dizzy, but it doesn't really happen I just get a slight funny feeling in my head. Is this likely to be from the surgery and anaesthetic, or is my body getting used to the pacemaker and the feeling I get is it actually working? I don't feel my heart rate go up or anything from the pm, however I did feel it when it was being tested this morning.
Thanks,

Almost 2 weeks

It will be 2 weeks on Thursday for me. The light headed feelings are less frequent. I have had the device checked once - last week- and all was in order so I have confidence it is working. I am having some "positional" light headedness as well, but not all the time. My cardio said it takes a bit for the body to adjust to the pacing and quit trying to "take over" like it needed to do before the PM in order to compensate for my slow heartbeat. It seems we just need to give it some time.
You know you're wired when...
You need to be re-booted each morning.

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
Differnent outcome for me

7 weeks post op and I never really felt any better than before. I visited my DR today for an interrogation of the PM. They found 9000 episodes of PVC's but said PM was doing it's job. However the lightheaded episodes continue and now he want to do a Cardiac Ablation to control what he now says are rapid heartbeats unrelated to the PM's mission. PM to keep my heart from stopping or slowing and the Ablation to keep it from beating out of my chest! I'm going to NAPA to see if they sell a rebuilt!
