Back again, update for this endless fiasco

HI everyone,
Endless fiasco it is. Sorry to vent the frustration. I noticed the other day the swelling starting to occur in another part of my arm. The pain has gotten so bad I haven't been able to sleep well for several nights now and because of the fatigue I haven't been able to eat well. I told myself enough was enough.

I went to the ER to see if I can get some help. Well, not only did they treat me like I was not a priority, it was the most useless 4 hours of my life. The doc couldn't reach my internist at all (my pacer doc is at another hospital far away from where I live). My shoulder was never looked at, and despite my arm swelling that was rather obvious, they still blew it off. In the end I left with only another pain prescription and bunch of hassles not being heard again. They didn't even bother re-doing the clot test to check to see if there were any changes.

Why oh why do I have to continue dealing with these morons? I am getting ready to take matters into my own hands. But frankly I am tired of having to go to 30 different specialists for the same problem only to find it's "not something they deal with" and send me off again. I am just plain fed up with this. I am so depressed because I am in so much pain I can't stand it.

Sorry again, had to vent. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Put it in Writing!

by auntiesamm - 2007-07-06 02:07:31

Hi Dodi - I have followed your postings now for the past few weeks. Have you documented any of this in writing? If not, I suggest you get everything in chrono-
logical order with good descriptions of what occurred each time. Then, put it all into a letter format addressed to any of the physicians who have been involved in your care as well as the hospitals. Many times I have found that no matter what the subject of concern is, until presented to the offenders in writing they just don't get it! If you have email addresses that is a good way to send letters out; always keep copies stored in your computer or make copies and file them. I am not advocating you prepare for a lawsuit, etc., but simply organize your situation and document it. In the hospital industry was say "if it was written down it wasn't done". Many people, me included, are visual people who need to read and digest information thoroughly. You may be dealing with a few people like me. It is unfortunate that many people have very selective hearing and tune you out. Please give some thought to my suggestion and see if you can't get a positive response. If you have questions please send me a private message or email me:www.auntiesamm@msn.com. Take care of yourself and God bless.
