Afib and acupuncture

I've had more or less continous Afib since I got a pacemaker in December 2009. It was strenous the first 18 months, but from around March this year, when I started on CoQ10, it doesn't bother me much. I had to stop running though, and I use a sports watch to keep track of my pulse, when I work in the forest or in the garden, taking a break when my heartbeat reaches 140. Works OK.

All the same, I would like to get my normal heartbeat back, and I'm looking around to find a good acupuncturist. So far, I found one in Denmark, and intend to go and see him in December.

Anybody with experience in how to get rid of A-fib? Did anybody try acupuncture?

A-fib

Hi
No I did not try auponuctuer. But i had AF for 8 years and then had a PVI Ablation, and then a PM with overdrive pacing system to manage early recurrence of AF, I am now free of AF, but must watch my diet, no caffeine, and take supplements of Magnesium and Patoassium. A quote from a-fib.com by Steve ryan " anyone in A-Fib is almost certainly Magnesium deficient". If you want more info e-mail me.

Hi
The Acupuncture points for AF are posted on the Afib report October 2010, the study was run in Milan Italy. Any Doctor who does acupuncture should be able to do this treatment with this info.

Roy,
Do you have a reference or a link to the report you mentioned from the Milan study?

After acupuncture

by otbergo - 2011-12-28 04:12:30

I have been 2 weeks to 2 daily sessions of acupuncture at the Boel institute in Aulum, Denmark. John Boel jr and sen have developed a system with acupuncture, based on a combination of ancient Chinese points and really painful needle points in the joints.

I stayed at a patient house at a fairly reasonable cost, with several other patiens just before Christmas, some Norwegians, some Germans and some Danes. A real north European reunion, with nothing more to do outside of the treatment than talk, watch TV and sleep. It was one TV and several languages so well, mainly talking and sleeping.

I feel much better generally, both during and after the 2 weeks. The afib, tested at the hospital in Bergen after I returned home showed the PM dependency of the heart was reduced from approximately 70% to less than 40%, since the last test. That's not neccessarily a result of the acupuncture. During the test, I had afib all the time. So the indication is that acupuncture might have been positive, it certainly felt that way. But no objective measurement supported my feel good, energized status.

You know you're wired when...

You can finally prove that you have a heart.
