Today was the big day...my first office visit since my Medtronic implant 8 days ago. I feel 100% better after being told that I am doing great! Got many of my questions answered and then some! I had been having some "wierd sensations" which is about the only way I can describe them and during my visit had another one. Seems like I must be one of the sensitive ones (my words) who can tell when my PM self tests. What a relief. Sure wish I would have been told that several days ago. Brought me much anxiety! For those of you who have been told you need a PM, you have found a website with some very caring and educated folks who understand just how you feel. I can only share what I have experienced. I was very fearful at first...this was sprung on me on a Sunday afternoon and surgery was 7 am Monday. A friend of mine gave me a definition of fear that I hope I never forget. It is False Evidence Appearing Real. God bless y'all, Jeane

I'm happy to hear your doing so well. It was a shock when
I found out I needed a pacer but I never want to feel the way I did before the PM again.
Good Luck

give it time

At 8 days it is still brand new. You need to give the leads some time to develop scar tissue (affects the electrical resistance), let your body heal from the surgery, the drugs, etc.
It will settle in. Maybe it wont need to self test over time or maybe that is something they can turn off once you settle in if it is still getting your attention.
Self test

Unless there is some reason for frequent self tests it can be set to run them during the night. My is set for around 3:00AM

You know you're wired when...
You are always wired and full of energy.

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
Congrats!

Jeane it took me 10 months and some tinkering with the settings, but my PM tech, doctor and I finally got this thing programmed right. Glad to hear that you are doing well!
