Hi again. I had my 3rd ablation on Tuesday & only had to stay in hospital for one night as my EP was really pleased with my progress.
Outcome of the ablation is that I did end up in complete heart block (AV node got wiped out as my EP had warned might happen) but I'm actually really pleased because my arrythmia was successfully ablated & best of all, I still have an underlying escape rhythm of 65bpm....which is the best news ever.
My biggest fear was ending up in complete heart block with no
underlying escape rhythm (which my EP warned could happen) so when he told me, & showed me, I still have this escape rhythm.....wow....I was SO pleased.
I already lost my sinus node last year after 2nd ablation, & now my AV node.....so I'm PM dependent. But as the arrythmia that made me SO unwell for 9 months has now gone, & I still have the back up of an escape rhythm of 65bpm, I'm actually overjoyed at this great outcome.
Only 2 days post ablation & my blue lips are now pink again, all my breathlessness on exertion has gone, my palpitations have gone....& I am so alert...I had continual exhaustion for 9 months
with the arrythmia.
Here's to the start of getting my life back again........fantastic!
Best wishes
Janey

Hi Janey, glad to hear of your good outcome. My doc has not mentioned ablations for me yet but will try meds for Afib. Nice to hear of successes. Thanks for posting.
Wow!! Great News

I'm so glad that you have posted this. Ablations have often had bad press on here but they can be completely curative , if done by skilled people,. I'm so glad that this seems to be the case for you.
Drs are becoming more skilled all of the time and there are big advances in mapping techniques to identify the exact parts of the heart which need ablating.
It appears that there are some arrythmias which drugs do not control and you were a good example of this so well done ...great result !

For bringing you back to the world of the living.
AND - to you for having the patience & fortitude to weather the storm.
An last - for being able to face the need to go 100% dependent on your PM.
Here's hoping it all lasts & doesn't turn out like the last procedure that seemed to offer so much hope then fell flat on its face.

as an Av node ablation recipient & a 100% pacer, I agree it is great to not be SOB, fatigued, gray/blue,etc.
Welcome to the PM & nation within of ablation success stories (as Chet, the dog.com) would say. :-)
