I received a call from my cardiologist as they are meeting with Medtronic in July at the local office and they asked me to come in for an appointment to get my PM adjusted. Has anyone experienced something like this? Just wondering what it might entail. I get told by my cardiologist and his associates all the time how lucky I am.
A little background history, I have SSD, and an 8.5 second pause, when the EP Study was done they had to use the paddles on my heart as there was a 9 second pause. I was rushed to the surgical room ASAP for a pacemaker. I orginially found out while at a Walgreens take care clinic that they couldn't get my heart rate faster than 23. After a 30 day holter, at night my heart rate would stay right at 17 or so. I was having histories of fainting and passing out once even by driving.

Optimization

Hi!
My experience is that the manufacturer reps know the pacemaker A LOT better than every cardio in the whole wide world. So, my guess is that your cardio takes this chance of having someone from Medtronic visiting to optimize your settings a little more. Won't be different than a regular check-up, just probably some more testing.
By the way, the paddles can only be used, if you suffer sudden cardiac arrest due to ventricular fibrillation or are having a fast ventricular tachycardia or to shock you back into sinus rhythm when you have atrial fibrillation/flutter. Shocks are never used for bradycardia. A flatline caused by a sinus arrest or heart block cannot be treated with shocks, but with different drugs and (temporary) pacemaker stimulation. So, are you sure they used the paddles on you? And if yes, did they tell you why?
Best wishes
