Calorie Burn with ICD

I have had a pacemaker from 2001 to 2003. Since 2003 I have had an ICD (Medtronic). My ejection fraction is 25%. I exercise regularly and never been shocked by the device yet. But when I am on an eliptical and it shows I burned 300 calories, did I really burn 300 calories? I mean, my ICD won't let my heart rate go above 150. Can I then burn calories like folks without ICD? How does it work?
Thanks.

Like PEteacher, I take those readings with a grain of salt. If I'm working hard and sweating, I trust that I'm burning calories but who knows how many! 300 would be a lot unless you're spending a lot of time on it. The elliptical I use calculates the calories burned by the intensity and length of time, I don't think it uses the heart rate. The hr function is on there but it never works for me, my pm causes it to always show 0 but it still calculates calories for me. I do 25-30 minutes at a medium intensity with it cranked up to a higher level for 1 min bursts. It usually says I burned around 175-200, which is more or less in line with how many weight watchers points I get for the activity.
thanks

yeah, I spend around an hour on eliptical each and everyday. for some reason since my ICD implant, my metabolism slowed down, so I have to work out more to stay in shape. Thanks PEteacher,, Tracey.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
Readings on exercise equipment

I've found since my PM implant that it's impossible to get accurate electronic readings on exercise equipment.
I either get no readings or totally inaccuate ones.
