I am a 73 y/o female who had a pacemaker put in about 5 months ago. Is that ok to get whole body massages at Day spa? are there any pressure points to be avoided ? They are asking for a doctors clearance and letter to do so.
Thank you,

massages

Hi:)
I have a 50% torn rotator cuff (left shoulder - same side as my pacemaker) and I have osteoarthritis in my neck and I have a huge knot in my left shoulder...all of which I get regular massages & chiropractic "stapling" for these issues. Both my massage therapist and Chiropractor are aware of my pacemaker and they know to go lightly on my back when I'm face down on the table. I think it would take a lot of force to be able to hurt my pm from a massage or the "stapling", but hey, anything is possible.
I didn't need to have a doctor's letter but every spa or massage place is different.
Enjoy your day at the spa!!!!!

I've done massages, no problem. If they're asking for a clearance letter, then you can double check with your dr but there shouldn't be a problem. The only area to avoid would be directly over your device. They won't hurt it, but it might not feel too good. Enjoy!
