Can we Play Golf

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows,if i can play golf after PM implant.My first PM implant was on 2000 and i have replace the new once in 2011.But i only replace my device and not the leads.
Just after 4 year ,I was told that my battery was drain off and i should replace them immediately.

So i decide to get them replace within 24 hours.But this time its complete set(device and Leads). After my surgery i ask the doctor,what possible have gone wrong with my pacemaker.

He told me,my leads has broken. the possibility is because of my golf game.But i relay don't understand.My first implant of PM lasted nearly 10 years and i am playing golf as well during that time.

Can anyone answer me,because i love to play golf.

The average lead life is 15 years, they don't last forever. It's possible golf shortened the life somewhat, but even if it did you still got a very average lifespan out of the first set. Sometimes things just happen and when the doctors don't have an explanation, they go looking for one, even if there's no evidence that's actually what happened. Can you feel the leads or device rub when you swing? Me, I would keep on playing golf!

I have just returned home from the golf course.

I know several people with pacemakers who play golf. I was talking to one of them half an hour ago.

If your PM is installed properly with plenty of slack in the leads then there is absolutely no reason not to play

My game has not been affected in any way by having a PM ( I still can't putt ! )

First of all , welcome to the club and I hope you have an uneventful recovery.

Who are " they" who don't like your left elbow above shoulder height ? That is the first time I have heard that !

I would find a different jury

The Dr who fitted my PM is a keen golfer so maybe he makes sure that there is always enough slack . I am right handed with the PM below the left collar bone and have had no problems. I would have thought that the vast majority of PMs are correctly implanted so problems with golf swings are very unlikely.

I only had mine fitted last week and I was concerned that I couldn't play golf again - the jury is still out for a while - reason - if you right handed and therefore had the pacer put in left below collar bone they don't like your left elbow above normal shoulder height as the action could displace leads if they tightened them on with no slack . It's the follow through jerk to get more oomph behind the ball strike - apparently you can adapt your game to use timing of strike rather than blasting ball with big follow through - bit like watching ladies play -3 accurate softer strikes to reach the green instead of us blasting left or right into trouble and taking a recovery shot out of trouble plus a chip to join the girls on the green for same amount of strokes !
