Its been a while since I posted although I do check in from time to time as the site continues to offer so much nformation and support. I have an ICD for obstructive cardiomyopathy and generally keep well (touch wood!) but after coming back from a week boarding in the Courchavel I have a couple of questions which may be linked. The first being about chairlifts - quite a few of them had warning signs about those with heart issues as some chairs had what looked like a magnet at one side.... It wasn't until my girl pointed it out that I stayed well away opting to sit at the other side. Anyone had any issues with this before? Secondly, I have been feeling a buzzing sensation since coming back? Could be totally Inocious but wonder if this could be resulting in sitting on those chairs? I have a 6 month check up next week so this is quite timely! :-)
Any info would be great.
Ps - with the weather being as it is in the states, be careful out there.
Best
Darren

Hi Darren,
I am a volunteer ski patroller on weekends. Although I am not paced anymore, I skied while being paced- you have nothing to worry about from lifts or trams. For that matter, as long as your exercise tolerance allows it, ski or board all you like. In 35 years as a patroller I have never seen a pacemaker related problem (we have treated some people who needed a pacemaker and didn't have one, that's a different issue).
Have fun.

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.

I will be interested in hearing any comments about this subject as I am planning a trip up your way this year and I was planning on going on some of those aerial tramway/Gondola rides , does anyone know if they are a problem for people with pacemakers ?
