Device vibrated

I had my pacemaker/diff implanted in april 2008. I have had no shocks or major problems. Today my device vibrated and it scared me to no end. I felt shaky and dizzy like. I found in my pamplet that if this happened to call the doc and so i did. They want to see me tomorrow. I have never had this happen before. Has anyone ever had this happen before and what could it be?

I have heard that some of the devices use beeps or vibration to warn that something needs to be checked. So far I haven't been able to find confirmation of this though.

You did the right thing to get in touch with the doc to have it checked. Could be your battery is reaching the point where it needs attention.

Anyway, relax and don't give yourself a bunch of meaningless symptoms. The little beast is just doing it's job.

Be sure to let us know what you find.

A while ago I thought l heard my PM "beep" but it turned out mine does not do so. But until l found that out l was doing a bit of investigating & in my manual it says that some devices are fitted with "patient notifiers" that will either beep or vibrate if it detects things like a low battery or maybe a fast HR, so you have done the right thing by contacting your doc & l am sure he will soon put your mind at rest.
Good luck

I had my ICD/Pacemaker implanted 10 days ago, and when my heart rhymth is off it thumps.

The day of implantation it thumped all night. I did not get any sleep. Now I am starting on my 10th day, and it thumps when I do more demanding physical tasks.

Has anyone else had this problem? Please let me know.

I have had my ICD for 3 months now and on my 4 week check up the nurse told me that my pacemaker has a built in alarm system. She played it for me so I would recognize the sound. It is set to go off at 810 am and will only go off if there is a problem like low battery or other problem with heart. If I do not respond the first day and have it checked out it will go off the next morning at the same time and will repeat this until i have it checked out. I have a metrodonic pacemaker. These pacemakers are real life savers and we have to learn to trust them. You did the right thing by calling your doctor. Good Luck

My ICD was installed 2 weeks ago and just before I left the hospital the ICD technician hooked me up to her machine and gave me a demo of what the device will do to alert me to some kind of a problem - be it a failing battery or an issue with one of the leads. It felt like a mobile phone vibrating in my chest. Apparently, it will do that every 10 hours until it is checked by a technician. I'm thinking thats what the problem is. All the best. x

Try to concentrate on how you’re able to be active again and feel normal, rather than on having a machine stuck in your body.
