CRT-D (Medtronic)

FYI...I had the pleasure today of being shocked by my CRT-D (Medtronic), 16 times within 20 minutes. Ended up in the emergency room, and when the Medtronic technician showed up she said, "Your heart is fine, there appears to have been a malfunction with the settings on the device". Folks, make sure your physicians sets the appropriate threshold (window) on your device, otherwise it's going to feel like you went 16 rounds with a gorilla. Feeling a little sore, I’ll be seeing my physician tomorrow for some additional tweaking of the device.

Have a great day!

So sorry you had to endure that. I cannot imagine it. I have not been shocked yet and hopefully it will stay that way. Hope your Doc gets all the settings right tomorrow.

BTW, Thank You for your service!

WOW!!! How horrific....Bad enough if you needed it, but to think it was from a ""small"" adjustment mix-up..... You have a great outlook on this episode. Much better than I would have had. You are tough- Thank you Sir for your service. Bev of NC

Tweak Day!

Well, to make a long story short, the appropriate adjustments were made on my "Consulta CRT-D" today. The physician could naturally not guarantee that the gorilla wouldn't be back in the future; every case is different. He suggested that I might want to look into the "Protecta CRT-D" when the time comes to change the device. Apparently, the new device comes with "SmartShock" technology to reduce inappropriate shocks. I guess that will be my next move when the time comes...FYI :)
