I received my pm in July 2011 and prior to getting pm I use to donate blood whenever I could. Yesterday I thought I would get back to donating and was informed you have to wait 6 months post op to donate. Another piece of info was to ask for supervisor when registering as let to that person know you have a pm as they need to turn off the sealer they use as it can interfere with your pm. Wonder why that isnt a better known piece of info. No signs and nothing on the paperwork they have you read. A little scarey, as had I not mentioned having pacer on my own I could have been exposed to the sealer transmission.
Anyone have more info about this?

Electric Frank: It is a blood bag tube sealer. Separates tubes from bag and seals it. Uses radio frequency. Go on line and type in blood bag sealer and it gives the specs.
Thanks

Never heard of them. At first I thought it was a stop leak they injected into your veins to stop the bleeding. Yeh, I know, but I don't trust them.

Not sure, I assumed has something to do with sealing the bags of blood but dont know. I know they had me in the little booth for the info and immediately went and turned it off til I left? I'll try to find out more.
